The excitement mounts for the beginning of the Malta National Sim Racing Championships qualifiers. With just four days remaining, the competition has been nothing short of intense, drawing a diverse array of talent, from beginners, to serious sim racers, enthusiasts, to actual drivers.
This year’s championship promises to be an electrifying affair, with close battles anticipated across the board. From newcomers eager to make their mark to veterans seeking to defend their titles, anticipation is reaching a fever pitch.
In the GT3 qualifiers, all eyes are on Anton Mifsud who is an actual drifting driver, whose meteoric rise in recent months has captivated fans. Mifsud currently leads the pack with an impressive time of 1:32.535, closely trailed by Dean Vella, the reigning 2022 National Champion, clocking in at 1:32.902. Dario Mangion rounds out the top three with a formidable time of 1:33.860.
Meanwhile, in the F4 qualifiers, the competition is equally fierce, with a staggering 196 drivers pushing their limits in the hot lap challenge on iRacing. Although foreign competitors are ineligible to participate, the field remains stacked with talent. Leading the charge is Keith Camilleri, a seasoned ex-Formula 4 and hill climb driver, posting a blistering time of 1:33.294. Folliwing him are Brandon Tabone and Matthew Scerri, with times of 1:33.653 and 1:33.718, respectively.
With such closely contested times, this year’s championship promises to be one for the ages, destined to be etched into the annals of Maltese sim racing history.
